Membership and Social
Outline of the work done by the Membership and Social Committee.
The Rotary Club of Abergavenny is an active and vibrant Club where members like to enjoy their membership and have fun while working to benefit the community and those less fortunate than others.
The Membership and Social Committee is responsible for deciding on and organising a range of social events each year for members, their partners and guests to enjoy. In addition to weekly lunches or dinners for members and a monthly dinner with partners (usually including an after-dinner speaker), other social events enjoyed by the Club include:-
- Progressive Supper.
- Walking Treasure Hunt.
- Annual BBQ.
- Visit to a country house and dinner.
- Cricket match
- Bowls competition.
- Petanque competition.
- Exchange visits with our twin Club in France (St Peray Tournon).
- Visit to District Conference.
- Weekend away at a hotel.
The Committee is also responsible for identifying and inviting prospective members to attend Club meetings (as guests of the Club) and apply for membership of the Club.

34 members of the Rotary Club of Abergavenny travelled to Switzerland to visit the Rotary Club of Payerne - La Broye. 29 members of the Rotary Club of St Peray Tournon in France also be attended the weekend event.details

7.30pm The second round of the Rotary quiz was held in Abertillery. Our team (Les Beckett, Chris Breakwell and David Yendoll put up a good fight but in the end were beaten by Abertillery, who now proceed to the next round.details

Abergavenny Rotary Golf team win District golf competition (2011)
John Bannon and Gareth Davies won the Rotary South Wales District golf competition in 2011. The were joined by Ti9m Reardon-Smith in the national finals, where they put up a good performance but were unable to produce a winning round.details
Progressive Supper (January 2012)
Club members and friends met at different club members houses for the starter and main course of the "Progressive Supper" before finishing at a church hall for dessert, coffee and discussion of the "culinary delights" enjoyed throughout the evening.details
