....making a difference to Horsham....

We launched the 'Making a Difference to Horsham' scheme at the beginning of March and, by 12th September, it had received 55 applications for help from a wide variety of Individuals and Organisations. We have satisfied over half of them and many more are in progress. Over £9000 has been donated.

It has been an extremely salutary experience to get an insight, albeit rather small, into some of the issues facing Horsham residents and charities...and deeply rewarding to be able to assist some of them. It has certainly proved that sometimes a very small donation can make a lot of difference to someone's life. One recipient, for whom the scheme financed an 'attendant control' to be fitted to her wheelchair at a cost of £98, was totally overcome with emotion.    If you know of individuals who could really benefit from a little help, please send us details through the Contact Page on this website

We would also like to sincerely thank those individuals who have contributed to our £1000 monthly funds and thus enabled us to do that little bit more.

We have mainly focused our efforts on very specific demands which result in a very clear advantage being gained.  For two organisations we have agreed to run Quiz Nights later this year to raise funds to enable a group of 30 disabled people to have a short holiday with carers, and to enable youngsters with special needs to enjoy specially designed sports and arts courses together with their families.  We are hoping that each of these Quizzes will raise about £1500 for the recipients, which would equal the monies raised at our last quiz on behalf of the Edukid charity in conjunction with the Inner Wheel Club of Horsham.

We also provided a large screen TV for a day to 26 residents of a Residential Scheme so that they could enjoy the Royal Wedding and celebrate together.

A number of requests have been satisfied with the help of other local organisations such as Horsham Matters and Horsham's Green Gym, to whom we are very grateful.

We are still working on finalising some of the activities where manpower is being provided to accomplish the benefits... we will be providing complete reports on these when the jobs have been completed.

Thanks to everyone who has given us requests and help fulfil them...together we really will make a difference.
