Youth committee report 2022
The focus of this committee is on the young people on the island and this year we are hoping to establish an Interact club. In order to do this we are working with the youth committee of the Island Community Action group and the Portland Council.
We will also be looking for a candidate for RYLA and working with our local schools and clubs to see where we can offer support. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to do any of this in the last two years due to the pandemic.
Every year we organize a Christmas party for the less fortunate children on the island and a fun day out for children with special needs. Unfortunately the pandemic has led to both of these activities being put on hold for the past two years but the Kids Day Out will be going ahead this month and we will be planning to do it again next year.
The Christmas party is planned for December and we are hoping the Portland Mayor who is an honourary Rotarian will get involved.
In order to raise funds for these projects we are planning a Fun Dog Show with market stalls for the end of August. If this is successful we would like to make it an annual event.
We are an enthusiastic team and look forward to a busy and exciting year.
