Roborough Rotary Club's Christmas Sleigh (newly refurbished thanks to the mechanics at Scoot- A- Long) will be taking to the road again on 3th December 2014.

Roborough Rotary Club's Christmas Sleigh (newly refurbished thanks to the mechanics at Scoot- A- Long) will be taking to the road again on 3th December 2014.

Santa and his team of helpers from the Rotary Club and Inner Wheel will start by touring the local area between 6 and 8 in the evening. Look out for them in Widewell and Little Fancy Close on Wednesday 3rd December; in Fort Austin Avenue on Friday 5th December; in Derriford, in the Upland Drive area on Monday 8th and the Looseleigh Lane area on Tuesday 9th December; and finally, in Manadon on Friday 12th December.

Santa will also be at Morrisons, Outland Road on the 10th and 11th of December and from 21st to 23rd December; and at Asda in Estover from 15th to 17th December.

All proceeds from the collection go towards local charities with particular emphasis on those providing help and support to children and young people.

Roborough Rotary Club's Christmas sleigh with Santa and his team of helpers from the Inner Wheel and Rotary Club was on the road from December 13 2013 until Christmas. Thanks to the generosity of the people of Plymouth around £4,400 was raised, all of which went towards local charities, particularly those providing help and support to children and young people. Caroline Easton, President of Roborough Rotary Club said "We would like to thank everyone who donated monies and made our collections by the Rotary club of Roborough at Tesco, Asda and Morrison’s  supermarkets and mobiles at Manadon and Fort Austin successful. The proceeds will be divided amongst local charities allowing us to help others in need. We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year."

Despite the rain, wind and economic climate your generosity helped us to raise a total of £5,135 for local charities. On 27th Feb 2013 representatives of four of the charities joined club members and Lord Mayor Cllr Michael Wright in the Lord Mayor's Parlour.

Cheques were presented by Club President Maureen Dickerson to Roy Beaumont and Tracy Wright of Plymouth Street Pastors, Judy Price of Childrens Hospice South West, Karen Body of Cann Bridge School, and Theresa Burt of ASK (Activities for Special Kids).

A big thank you to all who contributed so generously to our 2011 Christmas sleigh collection. £5,500 was collected for local charities and on Tuesday 31st January 2012 presentations of cheques were made at the Lord Mayor's Parlour in the presence of Lord Mayor Cllr Peter Brookshaw and Lady Mayoress Brenda Brookshaw.

Cheques were presented by club President David Easton to Helen Yeo and Jan Coleman of the Zone Young Carers Project, Denise Andrews and Tessa Mumford of The Upside of Downs, Dr Geoff Perham of Call South West, Graham Parkinson of Derriford Children's Cancer Services, Roy Beaumont and Barbara Griffiths of Plymouth Street PastorsTimothy de Sallis of Emmanuel Child Contact Centre, Bob Venn of the Elisabeth Svendsen Trust, and John Wooster of  Horizons.
