The New Generations Group is responsible for the "Young" arm of Rotary. There are Rotary clubs suitable for all ages of young people Rotakids for 7-12's; Interact for 14-18 and from 18-30 Rotaract.

As a club we are concerned with building rapport with local schools and other youth Groups. Our members assist local schools and projects wherever possible. Each year we undertake "practice interviews" for year 11 and 13 students to give them experience of a job or university interview - hopefully calming the nerves when they attend the real thing.

Through these connections we can identify potential participants for RYLA, the Young Rotary Leaders Award. This is a residential course for 15-19 year olds that takes place near Box Hill during the Easter Holidays. Team Building and leadership activities are the main objectives of the course but from seeing past participants, the main outcome seems to have been fun and a lot of new friends! Successful candidates have the course fee, which includes food and accomodation, paid by Rotary.

New Generations is the committee to contact regarding sponsorship requests for activities for young people. We have provided a contribution towards the fundraising efforts of a local student this year for a trip to Nepal, where she will be helping the local community.

Rotary has many national competitions and awards available for young people. Some need the participation of a group, others are individual. Whilst we do not automatically run all these competitions at local level, if you see something either on this page or on the RIBI website that you would like to know more about or enter please contact us - we are open to suggestions.

Some of the individual competitions are; Young Photographer; Young Chef (See news of Young Chef 2012); Young Writer and Young Musician. The Technology Tournament and Youth Speaks are both open to School Teams. If you are interested contact us.

Do you know a young person or a group of young people who go out of their way to help others? Would you like to see them presented with a Young Citizen award? Have a look at the Young Citizen Page on the RIBI website or have a look at the video below. Contact us for a nomination form.

Rotary also encourage exchange programmes with different countries, some are short holidays others can be for several months. Camps and Tours with specific interests in mind, eg music and sport are also available.

If you and your friends are community minded and would like to start a local club in conjunction with your school please do not hesitate to contact us.We will give you as much support as we can. More information is available.
