Ripon Rotary Club - Weekly News 1 February 2012

Harrogate farmer Steve Willis described aspects of his work in agriculture including his role as chairman of the Yorkshire and Humberside Farming and Rural Affairs committee at the club meeting yesterday. He made the point that 30% of all food produced is wasted between growing and being utilised and stressed that all those involved in the food chain need to work together for the good of the consumer.

There will be a 6 hour peal of bells at Ripon Cathedral next Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of the Queen's accession. A special service will be held at 5.30.
Treasurer Barry asks that payment for the St Valentine's Day dinner would be appreciated next Tuesday. The cost is £20 for guests and £12 for members.
A six strong team has been formed to take part in the annual Pancake Race.
Harry Corps will be attending a club meeting as guest.
The next U3A meeting is to be held on February 14th at 10 a.m. at Allhallowgate Methodist Church.
