Tom Issacs, President and Co-founder of The Cure Parkinson’s Trust gave a most  humorous and interesting talk.  

Tom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 27. He left his job as a director of a London property company in 2002 to undertake his Coastin’ challenge.   

Between April 2002 and April 2003, Tom walked 4,500 miles around the coastline of Britain, climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. and ran the Flora London Marathon, raising funds and helping build awareness and understanding of the disease.   

Tom has made numerous television appearances, having also presented two of his own documentaries on Radio 4 about his quest to find a cure. Tom was the sole patient representative on the steering committee for the World Parkinson’s Congress 2010.     

It has been recently announced that Tom has been chosen, along with two other colleagues, as Olympic torch bearers.
