Local schoolchildren are filling shoeboxes for children in Eastern Europe and are rewarded with Dictionaries for their school and also a school in Sri Lanka.
Dictionary 4 Life Project
Church & Oswaldtwistle Rotary club is working with local schools on a Community/International project. Schoolchildren are filling Rotary shoeboxes with gifts which we send to children in orphanages and hospitals, street kids, and disadvantaged families in Central and Eastern Europe.
We want to give some incentive to the schoolchildren for their efforts by providing a sought after dictionary to the school in return for every 10 shoeboxes that are filled. Through our ‘Dictionary 4 Life’ project we are also able to send a dictionary to a school in Sri Lanka for every dictionary provided to a local school.
The dictionaries that we are giving are being sponsored by local businesses and individuals for which we are very grateful. We will recognise the sponsors individually in the front of each dictionary.
This is a tremendous project which gives our children an awareness of the hardships of other children in the world, and also gives them a pride in providing for them, whilst at the same time gaining something useful for their own school.
