Youth speaks competition

Rotary national annual public speaking competition for young people aged 11 to 17 years. Three members in each team of young people; chairperson, main speaker and proposer. Timed presentations are made before a panel of judges with a question on the main topic being presented. 

The process starts with a local heat, successful teams then progress to area, district, regional and then a national final. St. Austell Rotary Club have been fortunate to sponsor a talented Brannel School team who have made it to national competition on two occasions winning the final in 2007.

Young Chef competition

An annual national Rotary competition that starts with a local heat then district, regional and a national final.

Young 'chefs' are required to produce a meal consisting three courses for two people plus menu and the appropriate table settings. The competition is held in the training kitchens at Cornwall College St. Austell campus and are judged by three professional chefs using specific criteria.

Young Chef Special Competition

Following the guidelines of the national competition above we have modified the rules and procedures to enable young people with individual needs to take part and enjoy a 'cooking' competition.

At the moment this is only held within the St. Austell Rotary Club area, we trying to encourage others within the District who have special needs schools to adopt the scheme.

Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary's leadership training program for young people. RYLA participants are aged 18-28 years.

RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship and personal growth.  It has been running for 18 years i

Each year St Austell Rotary Club sponsors at least one candidate to attend the course. The courses have been running for eighteen years.

Young Photographer

The Rotary Young Photographer Competition is a well-established and successful competition organised by Rotary International in Britain and Ireland. It is a three stage competition designed to support and encourages development of photographic skills.
