17-May-2012 at our regular Rotary meeting, The Speaker Mr Barry Le Jeune was introduced by Rtn Christine Smith, where we then all enjoyed a very interesting talk and slide presentation on London Transport by our Speaker. Barry is a very experienced lecturer whom gained a lot of the documentary whilst working for London Transport in many management positions for over 30 years and also from studies at the University of London (1978-1984). Barry later become Chairman of the University of London Transport Studies Society (1982-2000).

Barry is currently Chairman, of the London Transport Museum and Vice President, of the Omnibus Society.

We all enjoyed a very informative story about the London Transport some of which was a century ago, however, very interestingly most of the talk was of an era that many of us remembered, which included the bus-trams and the introduction of upgraded underground trains.

After a very informative talk, we were reminded to Look out for 2013 when there is going to be major celebrations celebrating 150 years of underground trains in London, maybe even working steam trains running to-from Paddington.

The talk followed with the invitation of asking questions, a few thought provoking questions were asked that also added interesting information.

Our Rotarian Shiraz Lakhani thanked the speaker and a show of gratitude was shown with clapping by fellow Rotarians.

Our speaker approved of the recording of a video; hopefully, like me you will enjoy watching and hearing our speaker again.
