Young Island Business People Honoured with top prize going to a team from Ryde Academy

The winning team was QT accessories from Ryde Academy. This team produced a range of bags and bunting and achieved excellent sales both locally and at Trade Fairs. The products sold by other teams included jewellery made from recycled toys such as Lego, chutneys made from local produce, an IT newspaper, novelty sweet presentations and postcards and calendars.

The other awards presented were:

 Best Business Plan - The Toy Jewel Company, St Catherine's School
 Best Company Report and Best Managed Team - Crest, Ryde School
 Best Trade Stand - QT Accessories, Ryde Academy
 Best Presentation and Best Product - Caulkhead Chutneys, IOW College

Groups of 16-19 year olds have been running their own businesses for seven months under the scheme. Teenagers from Isle of Wight College, St Catherine’s, Ryde School and Ryde Academy set up trade stands to showcase their products.
