Olympic Ideal inspires Jessica to win top Young Writer Award

Jessica Matthews, a student at Chalfont Community College in Buckinghamshire, is celebrating this week after winning the Rotary Young Writer Competition (Senior Category). 18 year old Jessica, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter, wrote an enthralling short story about participation in the Olympic Games, capturing both the excitement of the competition and that of the contestants.

Jessica  received her trophy and prize of a Cross pen, courtesy of sponsors AT Cross, at the Rotary GB&I Conference in Bournemouth where her writing was put on show for all to enjoy.

Jessica is planning to go to University to pursue her interests in writing and Journalism, and the visit to the Rotary GB&I National Convention at Bournemouth was perhaps a short and well earned distraction from the rigors of studying for
