Jeff Ollerton is Professor of Biodiversity at the University of Northampton. Author of around 80 academic papers, commentaries and book chapters, he is an acknowledged international expert in the area of plant and pollinator ecology, though also has wide interests in biodiversity teaching and research beyond this field.
Since obtaining his PhD from Oxford Brookes University in 1993 he has travelled extensively, studying plant-pollinator relationships in Australia, South America, Africa and the Canary Islands, as well as in the UK.
Jeff's research is concerned with understanding how plant-pollinator interactions are structured in space and time, and how they can be conserved in a world of environmental change. This is also reflected in the research and writing he does within the area of the history of human understanding and exploitation of biodiversity, specifically botanical science and horticultural exploration.
As well as the formal academic side of his work, Jeff has acted as consultant for a number of BBC television programmes and cinema documentaries. Jeff maintains a personal blog at: http://jeffollerton.wordpress.com/
