LOCAL ROTARY CLUBS JOIN FORCES FOR PAKISTAN FLOOD RELIEF

The Pakistan floods in 2010 were a tragedy of an unimaginable scale. Those who survived the initial flooding lived in fear of what may happen next. Rotary members across the world worked hard to provide a future for them and to bring hope and stability.

Rotary Clubs in the Hyndburn area had a joint effort collecting donations to help emergency efforts in Pakistan. Our volunteers from the 4 clubs of Accrington, Church & Oswaldtwistle, Great Harwood & Rishton, and Pendle View were collecting at Oswaldtwistle Mills and in the towns of Great Harwood and Rishton. Our local community here in Hyndburn always rises to the challenge and this time was no different. Donations received went to ShelterBox and Aquabox for relief to the Pakistan.
Shelterbox costs £495.00
ShelterBox is a Rotary supported disaster relief charity that provides shelter to those who have been affected by disasters worldwide. A ShelterBox provides a family of 10 with quality survival equipment to use while they rebuild their homes. Each box costs £495 which includes the cost of delivery to those who need it.
Aquabox costs from £50
A robust plastic tank with water purification tablets and packed with essential welfare items for a disaster situation. Once the welfare contents have been removed, each AQUABOX can be used to purify up to 1100 litres of water, enough for a family of four to drink 10 cups per day for about four months.
