Sat Aug 11th 2012 - 00.00, Sat Aug 18th 2012
A record £2500 raised through Cowes Week with new look Stand and Rocket.

2012 saw a new look Cowes Rotary Stand on the Parade and a refurbished and repainted Rotary Rocket. Despite mixed weather Club Members, Friends and Helpers were kept busy and 2898 of the fully biodegradable Tags & balloons were launched by young and old. Aberdeen Asset Management, keen to work within the local Cowes Community, this year sponsored balloon gas, tags and balloons. The Rocket made about £1363 which Aberdeen Asset Management has matched. All these proceeds go into the Club Charity account and will be used within the local Community throughout the year.

Results are :

1st : Tag 2823, 501 miles, Straithvaich Lodge, Rossshire, Scotland. Tag Holder is from Cowes. 2nd : Tag 1909, 456 miles, Masper, Germany. Tag Holder is from SW London. 3rd : Tag 1748, 426 miles, Oban Scotland. Tag Holder is from Horley, Surrey.

ASTO (Association of Sail Training Organisations) – £600 towards training of a Crew in this year's event. Last year this amount funded 6 cadets from the Island.

East Cowes Youth FC  About £510 for the U15 Youth Football Team. This Club has been hit hard by recently losing the use of their facilities at the GKN recreation ground. They are now charged for facilities at Queensgate Foundation School. Cowes Rotary will be paying for hire of playing field, changing room facilities & referees fees for the season.

Special Olympics IOW   £500 to sponsor one athlete from the Island at the National Games in Bath, 2013. The Special Olympics focus on people of all ages with learning disabilities.
