2012 Senior Citizens' Concert

Mon, Jun 25th 2012 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Another evenings entertainment of music, fun, tea and chat provides local old folk with a chance to meet old friends and have a sing song.

The annual Senior Citizens' Concert took place at Wallace Hall Academy with entertainment provided both by the John Douglas Trio and some of the school's own young talented musicians.

Compered by the irrepressible Brian Lord ( himself not ineligible for being at the concert) the evening programme gave the youngsters a chance to perform before a live audience with violin, harp, accordian, saxophone and singing on offer.

After the traditional raffle, the John Douglas trio of John, Willie McRoberts and John Caskie, took over with a selection of accordion music, ballards, merry banter from John Caskie and the ever popular singalong sessions.

The evening concluded with refreshments provided by the School and served by Rotarians.

Guests came from all over the Club area from Kelloholm and Sanquhar right down the valley to Auldgirth and Dunscore including all villages in between.

Thanks to all who helped and to Dumfries & Galloway Regional Council Nithsdale Area Committee who made a contribution to transport costs of those using the free bus services involved.
