Lunchtime Meeting - 12.45pm - Speaker Beth Hopwood RYLA 2012

Mon, Apr 8th 2013 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Beth was our RYLA student in 2012.

This week, Beth Hopwood, our Club's sponsored student on the RYLA course last year, visits us to tell us about the course at Arthog, the benefits she has drawn from it and if she has been able to put any of the lessons learned into practice during her first year at University.

Yesterday our club's Rotary Youth Leadership Award attendee from 2012, Beth Hopwood, came to our meeting to tell us about her week in Arthog, her experiences and what it meant to her. It was incredibly moving - Beth had endured some difficult personal issues but had overcome them to emerge a changed, more confident person with 40 new friends. I don't believe I have ever met another young person who got so much out of RYLA and it gladdened my heart to see what a difference Rotary can make to people's lives. The moment when President John gave Beth her certificate and our members burst into enthusiastic applause was a special moment and one I won't forget in a hurry. We wish you well Beth!
