Home | How we raise the money | Horndon Feast And Fayre 2012
At this years Feast and Fayre we served Cream Teas, made Candy Floss and ran a Ball Game for children. We raised almost £1,400 which will be distributed to local and international projects.
Our President Godwin and his wife Hazel kindly once again opened their home and garden to us over the weekend where together with friends and family the club members produced Cornish clotted cream teas by the hundreds even managing to keep everyone under cover during the short bursts of rain on Sunday.
Nothing could daunt the spirits of the team of waitresses as they dashed from kitchen to marquee carrying trays laden with scones, clotted cream and jam plus cups and tea pots. One visitor paid compliment after stating that he was fussy about his Cream Tea as he was from Devon but it turned out to be one of the best he'd ever had!
Children enjoyed the swings and slides while their parents relaxed and even dogs were welcomed with a bowl of water.
The event needed a team of 16 people and each task played a key role in the smooth running of the weekend. Our thanks, as always, goes to the many family members and friends who were also willing to provide their time for free to help us out, it would have been difficult without them.
Ivan, now known as Mr Candy Floss, actually sold out completely by 3pm Sunday. A childrens ball game provided by Brian Bowden took up the front lawn area and the remarkable skills of Jack Speight resulted in takings of £130 on that alone!
For a first attempt, this event went as well as it could have done considering the inclement weather and is well worth continuing next year.
Everyone enjoyed themselves even though we all went home extremely tired!
