A talk entitled "Rudolph Hess"

President John thanking Ian for a superb presentation.

This evening, the start of the new year for the Club, members were treated to a fascinating talk by Mr Ian Valetine entitled "Rudolf Hess - The Curious Tale of the Last Prisoner of the Second World War".  It had everything: mystery, intrigue, deception, played out at the highest levels of the British Establishment.  To this day, the true purpose of Hess' night flight from Nazi Germany to Central Scotland remains an unsolved enigma but, as Ian postulated, there are many theories, some of which stand more scrutiny than others.  To his very end, Hess remained a puzzling figure whose death, seemingly at his own hand, raised more questions of conspiracy and even murder in an effort to hide the truth.  All the Club members were very grateful for Ian's engrossing talk.
