Rotarian Bill Leslie of the Rotary Club of Ellesmere Port spoke to us about a charity that seeks to change the way of carrying drinking water from source to the home for 2.4 billion people. 'Roll Out The Barrel' is a simple alternative for women and children who have to carry heavy loads of water of up to 30 kilos on their heads or their backs and, sometimes, for large distances with serious consequences for health and body development. The barrel is of the same type as those used by campers and makes carrying 50 litres of water much easier and quicker and allows children time to play and to go to school.
