Stephen Bales Out for Charity

Mon, Oct 1st 2012 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

Our fearless MP has volunteered to do a sponsored
tandem parachute jump to raise much needed funds for the Eastbourne Women's Refuge and to buy Christmas presents for local disadvantaged families.

Eastbourne AM Rotary Club seek your support for a fundraising event by one of our members - Stephen Lloyd.

Some of you may know Stephen in his role as Eastbourne's Member of Parliament, but it's as a Rotarian and not as the town's MP, he has kindly offered to do a sponsored tandem skydive on Monday, 1st  October at Headcorn Aerodrome.

Why? You might ask?

Eastbourne AM are raising money for two worthy charities in the run-up to Christmas:

The REFUGE in Eastbourne which supports families who have been victims of domestic violence.

 And

Working with social services to provide Christmas presents for disadvantaged families locally.

(Last year we did this on a smaller scale and were horrified at the number of children who quite literally wouldn't have been receiving any presents at all on December 25 until we stepped in)

Our target is 1500 pounds and we are looking for sponsorship for Stephen. His exploits will be featured in the Eastbourne Herald for the next four weeks, and they have kindly offered to print a roll of honour for any organisation pledging over 50 pounds.  Do you think your club might be able to help?

Rotarian Peter Lindsey is co-ordinating the event and he can be contacted at petelindsey30@hotmail.com or you can email me and I shall pass it on.

I have attached the flyer advertising the event which also has information on our justgiving page

Of course, we would be delighted if you would like to join us on 1st October at Headcorn to witness the dive!
