RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

RYLA

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a training programme for young people aged 14-17 which was previously held at Ardenoig at Loch Tay, and will now be at Barcaple, Dumfries & Galloway, in conjunction with Abernethy (formely Abernethy Trust),
over two separate weeks in July. It enables the young people to debate issues of responsibility and human relations and to improve leadership and communication skills.

Through the various tasks to which they are exposed they develop self-confidence and knowledge - all while having fun and making new friends.

It should be noted that the R.Y.L.A. week is a physical week. Activities take place all day .A good level of fitness and endurance is required in order to partake in, enjoy and contribute to the activities

Most years the Club has sponsored two pupils from local schools or youth organisations to attend these courses. In all a total of 36 'Rylarians' have taken part.
