Charitable Trust Fund

The Club has registered a charitable trust fund, the Rotary Club of Duns Charitable Trust Fund, through which donations can be made and GiftAid tax relief obtained.

Although the Club has done a great deal of fundraising for all sorts of good causes over many years it is not formally a charity and so could not maximise donations through GiftAid.  To create a charitable fund you have to be registered with HMRC and then meet the requirements of the charities regulator, the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator (OSCR).

In 2011 the Club decided it would be worthwhile taking the steps to comply with OSCR requirements and established a Registered Charity Fund, so enabling anyone making a donation to us for any of the charities we support to get the Taxman to add to it through GiftAid.  The fund is administered by its own Charity Trustees, drawn from the membership of the club, to ensure the interests of the charity are always put first.
