Our speakers on October 23rd were David Gibbison and Bryan George who spoke about TLC, Teddies Loving Care. This is all about giving teddies to young children as they enter the A & E departments of hospitals after an accident to help them cope with the trauma of the situation.
This is a Free Masons project and is financed by Free Masons themselves together with donations from groups and sales from merchandise. It all started in Essex in 2001 and has spread to most of Free Mason Provinces. The North Wales Province distributes teddies to the three main hospitals as well as Ty Gobaith. So far one million teddies have been distributed in the UK and 15,000 in North Wales.
We were told that the Masons have a "bear man" connected to each hospital who is responsible for making sure that the teddies are always available.
