The Rotary Swimarathon is a fund raising event and the monies raised will be donated to local charities and worthy causes. Some of the monies raised will also be donated to the Rotary End Polio Now campaign. Picture courtesy of The Falkirk Herald
The Rotary Club of Polmont held a presentation in the Inchyra Grange Hotel and Spa in Polmont, to disburse the funds raised at their Swimarathon event held over two days in February this year. The 2015 Swimarathon raised £8,500 and the monies were distributed as follows:
£3,500 Kidney Kids
£1,000 Carrongrange School
£1,000 MacMillan Cancer Care One to One Forth Valley NHS
£1,000 Maggies Forth Valley
£1,000 Falkirk Homeless Project
£500 End Polio Now
£500 towards a second Community Defibrillator to be based in the Inchyra Grange Hotel.
Cheques were presented to all the charities concerned, and prizes awarded to the highest fundraising School, which was Carrongrange, and the highest fundraising organisation was Lightways Contractors Ltd. A prize was also awarded to Braes High School team who achieved 198 lengths in 55 minutes. The Presentations were made by President Norman Black.
Around 85 people attended the presentation event with representatives from the schools (teachers / students), businesses and other organisations that entered teams.
