During the 2017 St.Ives September Festival, the Rotary Club of St. Ives will hold, for the eleventh year running, their annual 'Spot the Artist' Exhibition and Sale.

On display will be artwork by more than 300 well known professional and 'up and coming' artists, from St Ives, nationwide and also overseas including many whose work has in the past been accepted for inclusion in the prestigious annual Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions. This year about 100 of the artists will be giving work to the event for the first time.

Participating artists have described ‘Spot the Artist’ as being the best event of its kind, in terms of quality and variety of the artwork, in the whole country with the exception only of London.

The artists sign their artwork on the reverse, so in theory you will not know his or her identity until you have purchased the painting.

The names of the participating artists and the websites on which you can view their work are shown on the sub-page below.

Each piece (Large Postcard size - 21cm x 15 cm - 8"x 6") will be sold for just £45.  Many are worth much more than this.

From early in September images of the artwork included in the sale (with the sale numbers) will be posted on the www.facebook.com. page of the Rotary Club of St Ives.

Flyers with images of about 20 of the exhibits will be distributed locally in the weeks leading up to the event.

The artwork will displayed for viewing at the St Ives School of Painting, Porthmeor Studios, Back Road West, for two days, on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th September 2017 between 10.00am and 4.00pm each day.

The sale will take place on Sunday17th September, following the exhibition, at the St Ives School of Painting. Doors will be opened at 9.00am and closed at 2.00pm. You may need to queue if you wish to buy a particular painting – some enthusiasts even queue overnight before the sale.

Our aim is to provide an event which we all enjoy.

Recent exhibitions have been very successful. The 2015 exhibition raised over £10,000. The 2016 exhibition raised over £13,000, with only six of the paintings remaining unsold.

The proceeds from the sale will be shared (on a 50/50 basis) between local arts charities and organisations and Rotary charities and good causes.

This year we again plan to support the following local arts organisations:

St Ives School of Painting

St Ives Society of Artists

Penwith Society of Artists

St Ives Arts Club

St Ives September Festival

St Ives Archive

Leach Pottery

We will also support charities and good causes supported by Rotary International, such as Shelterbox Disaster Relief and the Campaign to Eradicate Polio throughout the world, as well as many local charities and good causes.
