During the 2017 St.Ives September Festival, the Rotary Club of St. Ives will hold, for the eleventh year running, their annual 'Spot the Artist' Exhibition and Sale.

Art enthusiasts, keen to snap up a bargain by a well-known painter, queued on the streets of Down’long.

The occasion was the Rotary Club of St Ives holding their 11th Spot The Artist Exhibition and Sale.

This year a new record of over £13650 was raised for charitable causes.

Around 380 postcard size paintings were donated by artists from nationwide, all on offer for £45 each.

Buyers have to try to recognise work by their favourite artist as the pictures are only signed on the back. We get people queueing overnight for 24 hours plus said organiser, Rotarian Mike Clough.

‘They bring camp beds and sleeping bags’.

More than 300 artists have contributed. Proceeds from the sale are split 50/50 between local arts charities and rotary club charities.

Rotary Club of St Ives would like to thank everybody who was involved in this truly enjoyable   event, particularly the contributing artists whose art was outstanding.

Recent exhibitions have been very successful. The 2015 exhibition raised over £10,000. The 2016 exhibition raised over £13,000, with only six of the paintings remaining unsold.

The proceeds from the sale will be shared (on a 50/50 basis) between local arts charities and organisations and Rotary charities and good causes.

This year we again plan to support the following local arts organisations:

St Ives School of Painting

St Ives Society of Artists

Penwith Society of Artists

St Ives Arts Club

St Ives September Festival

St Ives Archive

Leach Pottery

We will also support charities and good causes supported by Rotary International, such as Shelterbox Disaster Relief and the Campaign to Eradicate Polio throughout the world, as well as many local charities and good causes.

All the artwork is very generously donated by the artists and their help is greatly appreciated.
