Reports from the Fund Raising Committee
|Fund Raising 2012-2013|
The largest fund raising event of the year is the Annual Summer Fayre held at the end of June in Alexandra Gardens Windsor. Over the years this has turned into a community event, where 30 or more charities have stalls at the event, and for some it is their major fundraiser in any year. The Fayre in 2012 raised over 5000.
Coupled with this we have recently added the annual Duck Race which is held on a section of the Thames on the same day as the Fayre. Over a thousand ducks swim down the river to the finish line. We hold this event in conjunction with the Windsor and Eton Town Partnership and half the proceeds go towards the Windsor Town Christmas Lights as do half the proceeds from a money globe located in the Royal Station Windsor
In early December we hold two collections in King Edward Court accompanied by Christmas music. The residents of Windsor are very generous and this year over 800 was raised from these collections in spite of competition from many other charities.
During December the Club also help Windsor and Eton Round Table with their door to door Sleigh Collection accompanied by Father Christmas. This year Round Table raised 2800, a portion of which helps towards the OAP shopping at Squires Garden Centre.
In other years one off Fund Raising Events such as the Prestige Car Rallies in and around Windsor Castle are organised, which to date have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds.
All the money raised during the year goes towards Rotary Charities both local and overseas.
