What we do in Woking
Local club activities
Some of the organisations suuported by our club over the past few years are:
Chase Shooting Star Childrens Hospice - is one of our local childrens hospice service, a charity caring for local families with a child or teenager with a life-limiting condition.
BBC Children in Need - In 1980, the BBC held its first telethon- a single program lasting a whole evening, raising money for charities that are working with children across the UK. Since 1980, it has raised over 600 million!
Eikon is a Surrey based charity that has been working in the local community for almost two decades, providing sustained support to some of the countys most vulnerable young people and their families.
Its core-work is placing inspirational Youth Specialists into schools to identify at risk young people and provide support in the pivotal teenage years.
Kids Out is dedicated to bringing fun and happiness into the lives of disadvantaged children. Through innovative projects, they not only bring smiles to childrens faces but also improve their long-term life chances.
Woking Hospice Thomas Di Felice was tragically killed in a road accident on the 15th December 2009. He was 17 years old. His parents, family and friends have tirelessly raised money for the Hospices, and their generous donations enabled the Tommy D Project to be launched. The Tommy D project supports young people, under the age of 18, who have been bereaved.
Other local activities - In addition to the above we have organised outings for some of our senior citizens; provided tickets to the pantomime to a group of local children and made small donations to 17 other local charities, groups and individuals.
