Roll the Barrel 2012

Roll the Barrel competition 2012

The 54th Roll the Barrel competition took place on Boxing Day 2012.  With the weather kind to us this year and a good number of people came in to High Street, Denbigh to witness the thrills and spills of barrel racing as well as to see the vintage tractors and the Denbigh and Flint Hunt.

We had men and women taking part in separate heats and in two keenly fought finals, the winners were brother  and sister Gary Madoc-Jones and Ceri Madoc-Jones extending the success of the Madoc-Jones family over a period of 41 years during which time the family have won 24 titles.

Our celebrity guests this year were Angharad and Megan Phillips of Denbigh and Welsh table tennis champions who started most of the races.

The children's races on Crown Square are a timed affair and the eventual fastest times were by Cai Davies (senior boys), Thomas Atkinson (junior boys) and for the girls, sisters Cara Roberts (senior ) and Lois Roberts (junior).

Members of the club are most grateful to Denbigh Town Council and Lock Stock for sponsoring the competition this year.
