History of the Club and past members

On 30 December 2012 Geler Mallett an honorary member of Cardiff East Rotary Club was called to higher service following a long illness.

Geler first joined Cardiff East Rotary Club in 1976 becoming President in 1984. Geler was a very active Rotarian and in 2009 received Rotarys Paul Harris Fellowship for his oyutstandinng community work for the Club. Alongside his Rotary work Geler had been an active and long serving member of the  Scout Movement . One of his notatable and long lasting legacies was starting and developing the Scout Post which has become a feature of Christmas in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Geler was very active in Rotary and promoted great fellowship in the Club welcoming all and making new members feel at home. Geler was very active in the Church and was know for his welcoming manner and making new members of the Concegation quickly feel welcolme. His funeral took place at his Church St. Martins Church Roath; during a very moving Requiem Mass  and them Wenallt Chapel Thornhill. Geler was very much a man of the Community and will be sadly missed.
