Fal River Walk 2013

Sun, Jun 2nd 2013 at 12:00 am -

Our annual charity walks of 5 or 14 miles, with a cream tea in St Mawes to finish. For teams there were "grown up" challenges. This year's proceeds, over £5,500, went to Cornwall Hospice Care and Rotary funds.

On a splendidly warm and sunny day, over 120 people took part in our annual charity walk, and three teams of five entered the novelty Team Challenge. Over 100 opted for the long option of 14 miles.

Participants registered at Ponsharden in Penryn and were then taken by ferry to Flushing for the first leg of the trek on foot to the Pandora Inn. A short crossing took them over to Restronguet Point, to walk to the Trelissick pontoon via Feock and the woodland walks. A third ferry landed walkers at Turnaware, the start of the "short" walk and the last "long" five miles - with a Treasure Hunt option for a small fee.

On the D Day departure beach, the Team Challenge teams were faced with a number of physical and intellectual challenges posed by the staff of Cornwall Outdoor - see the separate tab.

A lavish cream tea and the presentation of awards by the Lord Lieutenant of the county awaited the finishers, before they took yet another ferry back to Falmouth.
