A report on planting of tress for Jubilee Wood.

26.02.13 JUBILEE WOOD. CLEETHORPES COUNTRY PARK.

On Saturday 22nd February we gathered at Cleethorpes Country Park to continue with the planting of Jubilee Wood. The section chosen of the park was near Chichester Drive and close to Cleethorpes Golf Club.To date we have planted whips in two areas of Immingham and one in Grimsby(see earlier reports).

The party was lead by Rotarian Gordon Boulter (Convenor for Environment) and was supported by Rotarians Leslie Donaldson.Nigel Frow,Ian Birrell and MartynTurner.

It was very cold day (see photograph). The ground was also very rough and we had to part the thatch of grass to expose the surface below. However, once we put spades into the soil/grass it was quite damp and planting of the whips was easy(thank goodness).Again we planted a mixture of whips including oak.The final planting is next Saturday 2nd March lets hope for a warmer day.

An update.

Gordon Bulter (Environment Convenor) informed the club that we had participated in 5 out of 6 events to plant trees. He estimated that we had planted 5000 tress.
