Club Meeting ~ David Arthur

Tue, Jul 30th 2013 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

David Arthur gave a talk on his recent cruise to the northern Turkey area, and president Graham Smith proposed the vote of thanks.

President Graham Smith welcomed 14 other members, and Douglas Dow asked for support from members for the International Committee bookstall in Colquhoun Square on Saturday August 17 in aid of Polioplus. Adam Muggoch advised that the first meeting of the new Youth Services and Foundation committee would be a week on Thursday at Ron Dunachie's house at 7.30pm.

David Arthur gave a talk on his recent 24-day cruise to the northern Turkey area on board the Aegean Odyssey. He told of the steep walk and 300 steps leading to a monastery built on a mountainside, visiting Sarajevo and then Balaclava where the Charge of the Light Brigade took place, where he laid a wreath on behalf of the visiting group at the Place of Reconciliation, and a bus tour to the Temple of Aphrodite where he bought what he thought was a prayer mat and turned out to be an ornate mouse mat.

David gained his reward when he won the weekly raffle for a whisky miniature.
