Drug War

A Talk by Mr Jim Duffy


This evening, we were addressed by Mr Jim Duffy, a Rotarian from the Louden Club and a retired Policeman.  Jim is a member of "Law Enforcement Against Prohibition" (LEAP), an international organization which espouses the legalization drugs.  His talk was a startlingly frank disclosure on how the so-called War on Drugs was a financial and social failure, and that a new approach was now needed.  As you can imagine, this was and is a very controversial subject which generated a lively discussion afterwards.  We are grateful to Jim for his illuminating presentation and hope that the problems caused by criminalizing drugs can be overcome in the future.
