Behind the Scenes at the Scottish Mining Museum

A talk by Mr Bob McDonald.

This evening, we were addressed by Mr Bob McDonald on a subject which he obvioulsy feels passionately about and promotes very well.  Bob himself is an ex-mining engineer and an experienced Rotarian.  He described his involvement from the inception of the Scottish Mining Museum right up to the present.  Located at the old Newton Grange and Lady Victoria mines, the museum is a vivid reminder of the debt owed to the brave miners and their families who helped to fuel the Industrial Revolution and hence make the Country wealthy.  As well as describing the museum, Bob also gave us a recap of some of the major mining disasters which had occurred in Scotland's past.
