The Rotary Club of Bradford Blaize and the Rotary Club of Vlaardingen 80 (VL80) have been twinned since shortly after both clubs received their charter in the early 1980's. Since that time VL80 have visited Bradford approximately every 3 years with Blaize paying a return visit around 18 months after each visit from VL80.
This time VL80 members and their partners arrived at Leeds Bradford airport at 10:00am on Friday the 28th of April and were collected by their hosts for a day exploring the area. A few were taken to lunch followed by a viewing of a rehearsal of an Opera North production including a tour of the backstage areas. The majority expressed a desire to visit the Yorkshire Dales and were taken by their respective hosts to various parts but with the majority meeting up for lunch at the Red Lion at Burnsall. This was followed by a short walk along the banks of the Wharfe.
After being taken to their hotel (the Marriott at Hollins Hall) VL80 were given a couple of hours rest before a drinks reception in one of the function rooms. This turned into a major celebration as unknown to most participants one of the VL80 visitors had been awarded an honour in Queen Beatrix
