Visit of District 1020 Governor Kate Keter

Wed, Aug 21st 2013 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

.

President Roy Stirrat welcomed District Governor Kate Keter and husband Iain to our meeting adding that it would be a fairly informal event.

DG Kate used the phrase 'Engage Rotary' and suggested that it could be interpreted in a variety of ways. She reminded us however that, to maximise our Rotary experience, 'moderation in all things' must apply to our Rotary involvement as much as to other activities. She continued by referring to her own personal 'Rotary moment' - not one of the major events in which she had participated such as polio immunisation in India - but a more personal experience involving Rotarians in another part of the UK.

Graham Low gave a superb Club's vote of thanks to DG Kate using research from her social media pages and Derek Thomson presented her with a Rotary pen.

President Roy then invited contributions from various Club members explaining our activities. Among these, Rodger Thom outlined our Foundation, International & Other Charities initiatives including our intention to provide ten filled backpacks for school children in Malawi as part of the 'Mary's Meals' appeal allied to the forthcoming District 1020 Conference in Ayr. Rodger also added his personal 'Rotary Moment'.

Mike Rowe, illustrated by a live internet connection to the Club website, explained our recently commenced series of 'What We Do' pages - the sections covering Support for Young People, International, Community, Rotary Charities, Within The Club and Club Initiatives.

A very good Club meeting with a wide variety of topics - enjoyed by all.
