The Rotary Foundation is the largest charity in the world. Its mission is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.

The Rotary Foundation relies on the enthusiastic support of Rotarians voluntarily giving generously of their time and money, and has become one of the foremost non-governmental foundations in the world. The educational support program is the largest private scholarship endowment in the world.

The Rotary Club of Cowdenbeath celebrated its 90 birthday on 18 July 2013, 90 years to the day since it was chartered in 1923. A company of 30 members and their spouses enjoyed lunch in the Halfway House Hotel after longest serving cut a birthday cake.
