Charity Walk District 1020 Derry-Londonderry

President Archie's Derry-Londonderry Walk. Along with PP Peter Croan from Galasheilds

Well the route is planned, the Pit-stop arranged the Risk Assesment completed and members of the club along with friends will soon be off on the "Calls for Heroes" and "Cash for Kids" Charity walk

John Knight has done a great job with the planning but unfortunately as John says, even he cant guarantee a nice sunny day as the weather is a bit out of his control.

It looks like we will have around 12 people walking from Rotary Club Carluke to Rotary Club Shotts and to make our walk a bit different President Archie along with Peter Croan from Rotary Club Galashiels will be extending our walk all the way to Derry-Londonderry Ireland.

President Archie and Peter Croan will be attending the Rotary Club of Londonderry  International Peace Conference from 24th to 26th May and while there will carry out their Charity walk to the Rotary Club of Londonderry where they will meet up with fellow Rotarians on the 25th May.

On route from Carluke to Shotts a pit-stop has been arranged at roughly the half way point ASDA store in Newmains. ASDA have very kindly offered the use of their store entrance area for RC Carluke to have a display / exhibition  stand to promote the two charities and have available for the public information leaflets and also collection buckets for donations from ASDA customers.

ASDA have also kindly offered to supply Tea and Coffee and the use of their toilet facilities for the intrepid walkers on the day. This facility is being made available from 10.00am to 3.00pm when the charity walkers should have reached their destination.

Many thanks also to President Alex Napier and fellow Rotarians from RC Shotts who will be hosting our jolly walkers and making sure that all the calories burned off during the walk are well and truely put back on plus some extra for good will.

Another sunny day made this event a pleasure to walk from Carluke to sunny Shotts for a change
