What a fascinating talk and what a life Anthony has led. He was born in South Africa and joined the armed forces upon leaving school. However due his anti-apartheid views he was forced to leave S.A. and then started his life of travel. First he run a 15000 acre farm then an opal mine in Australia, then he started a business with three others based in the Phillipines involved in peace and conflict resolution across war zones, backed by the UN. The stories he told of this time were rivetting but ended suddenly in a situation where his colleagues were killed and he was seriously injured. He eventually ended up in the UK, first teaching children with learning problems then became involved in social work before retiring at 60. It was suggested that with his experience he should write his life story and maybe his experiences in war zones could be of interest to those in RI who promote Rotary's involvement in peace and conflict resolution....A very enjoyable evening and thank you to Anthony for his time and Dave for introducing him.
