Citizen of the year winner 2013

Duns Citizen of the Year 2013 is Billy O'Brien, recognised as a tireless worker for community and fund-raising projects. He received the trophy at a recent club meeting,


 

This year over 60 people made nominations for the Duns Citizen of the Year Award, organised by Duns Rotary Club in partnership with The Berwickshire News to give recognition to a local person each year for the work they do. Nominations came from across the wide area served by the Club and covered many different areas of service. There were many people nominated but of course there can only be one winner.

 

This Year's award has gone to Billy O'Brien for his tireless work over many years on a variety of projects and for his constant input into numerous fund-raising efforts. He is recognised as the epitome of what it means to support your community and is a worthy winner.

 

He attended Duns Rotary Club on 18 July to receive his award from Club President, Eric Bridgewater, who said in making the presentation
