Business Meeting with the President in the Chair to discuss any topical subject. The club also welcomed to the meeting former Ambassadorial Scholar Dr Asami Miyazak, a special guest of PDG Ron Lucas.

On Tuesday 20 August, our former Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar (2006-07) Dr Asami Miyazaki attended the Rotary Club of Newcastle under Lyme as my guest. Asami was spending six weeks at Keele University were she studied International Relations seven years ago. Her Host Counsellor was PP Eddie Boden who is currently Mayor of Newcastle and who made a Mayoral visit to the club on 6 August. At the end of our Business Meeting Asami was invited by Club President Brian Lewis to give us an update on all her work since the end of her Ambassadorial Year at Keele. Amongst other successes Asami obtained her PhD and a permanent post at her Japanese University and an Honorary Research Fellowship at Keele University, where the Vice-Chancellor Professor Nick Foskett is an Honorary Member of our Newcastle Club (see below for Asami
