President Graham Smith welcomed 14 other members and associate member Phil Hopkinson on a trip to his former home from Putney where he now lives.
Adam Muggoch announced that the local round of the Rotary Young Chef of the Year competition would be at Hermitage Academy on Monday November 4, and Derek Hall said that the destinations for next year's long weekend trip abroad had been narrowed down to Barcelona or Rome.
Derek Hall described the circumstances which led up to the Battle of Flodden, which was 500 years ago on September 9, and how the Scots led by James IV were heavily defeated by a section of the army of Henry VIII. In three hours 20,000 Scots were slaughtered, while only 5,000 English lost their lives. He said that there had been very little recognition of what happened in the battle to this day.
Adam Muggoch proposed the vote of thanks, and the weekly raffle for a whisky miniature, currently Scottish Leader, was won by Hugh Sweeney.
