On 22 August  members of Wadebridge Rotary Club had an away day visit to the Classic Air Force Museum now based in RAF St Mawgan, on the civilian side, called the Aero Hub.

It was nice to see the large hangar being put to good use storing the static exhibits and those that are still used for flying trips, such as the Dragon Rapide biplane, and the Gloster Meteor and others.  Another favourite aircraft, a VC10, will be joining the collection next week, one of 3 last remaining flying examples.

There were a total of 28 in the party which toured the museum, comprising of Rotarians, family and friends. We were well looked after by the museum's events manager Tim Moore and his teams of guides, who had kept the museum open for us for an after hours visit.

Everyone enjoyed themselves sitting amongst the aircraft in the hangar having our buffet supper.

A visit is highly recommended to all, and those more adventurous types you can pre book flights in some of the aircraft that still fly. For more details on the collection, times of opening and other general information, you can visit www.classicairforce.com
