In his time in the Royal Navy, club member Dale Worthington became aware of a nursing home in Carriacou in the Caribbean that existed on charitable donations., called Top Hill Care Home. Dale worked with Derek Aspinwall, the General Manager of B&M Supplies, who donated a quantity of supplies, that seem basic to us in the UK but are absolutely essential in poorer parts of the world, and also Millbrook Care Home in Cemetary Rd, Southport, who donated a quantity of surplus incontinence pads. The pallet load of goods were shipped over to Carriacou, at a very good rate, by Geest Line. The matron of Top Hill Care Home was overcome at receiving such a quantity of useful goods, members of the Rotary Corps of Carriacou helped with the handover.
