CHARITY GOLF DAY

The 2018 Rotary Club of Nailsea & Backwell Charity Golf Day will be held on 20th July 2018.

The 2017 Rotary Club of Nailsea & Backwell Charity Golf Day was again a great success. Over 30 teams of golfers had an enjoyable day and a significant sum was raised for the supported charities at the same time.

The Rotary Club of Nailsea and Backwell ran Charity Golf Breaks for 13 years to 2011 raising in excess of £40,000 for various charities with Hope and Homes for Children being the main recipient.

These Golf Breaks were replaced in 2012 and 2013 by a Charity Golf Day, which was held at Mendip Spring, North Somerset, in September. Around 30 teams of 4 took part in the event on each year and nearly £10,000 was raised to purchase urgently required equipment for the Special Care Baby Unit at St. Michael's Hospital in Bristol.

The 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Charity Golf Days held at Mendip Spring, near Bristol have raised funds for St Peter's Hospice, Children's Hospice South West and also again for the purchase of equipment for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at St Michael's Hospital. The 2016 and 2017 events have also supported Rotary local charities. Over 30 teams of 4 golfers have participated in each of those years. There were many prizes for both Men and Ladies, together with a Raffle and a Silent Auction.

The 2018 event will again support the Special Care Baby Unit at St. Michael's Hospital together with Rotary local charities including Rotary Child Assist which is a fund set up by Rotary Nailsea & Backwell to provide assistance to youngsters disadvantaged against their peers in the local area.
