Mark Frankland spoke about the situation in upper Nithsdale.
We have started our contribution with the Foodbanks and Mark Frankland of First Base provided more about the story behind this growing need in our community.
In his usual down to earth manner Mark gave us the gritty details of the service especially in mid and upper Nithsdale.
Across the region what started 10 years ago with 1000 parcles has recently ballooned into near 6000 plus. Whilst outlining the safeguards and monitoring, it was the case studies he gave that made the cause so disturbing in this age of prosperity. Now even working people can be short of food.
The problems that Civil Service systems can create seem to be nearly beyond belief but until realistic real world understanding gets put in place it seems we will need food parcels for the community to look after the poor not the state.
