In a very comprehensive talk SPS Governor of Dumfries Prison explained the why's and how's of the prison ethos.
She feels Dumfries prison is everyone's business and explaining what she and her staff are trying to do was based on stopping reoffending. Taking a pragmatic view she explained that with 150 staff and 180 prisoners her motivation was to help all prisoners to come out of prison able to take a constructive part in the local community.
Philosophically over the last six years she had based her personal targets on doing something brave everyday whilst at Barlinnie, something brave and boring whilst at Shotts and now at dufries something brave, boring and bonkers at Dumfries.
Her insight into the "inside" was however clearly neither brave, boring or bonkers but very well received by Rotarians.
