Eradication of Polio 2015
Barton Rotary continue works to eradicate polio.
Aiming to sell 600 Crocus Pins at various locations during Polio Week, Barton Rotary Club members set up stall outside the Co-operative store in Market Lane on the first Sunday. On the first shift were Eliza Hinxman, Jackie Poustie and John Fagge.
For each 1 Crocus sold, two pounds will be added by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. $5.5 million is needed to finally complete the task of worldwide polio eradication.
Back in March 1980, Barton members took part in a 13 mile sponsored walk. Little did we know then that it would take over 35 years to eradicate Polio.
