Club Meeting ~ Jack Rudram

Tue, Jun 17th 2014 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Jack Rudram spoke about his grandfather's experiences in World War One, and Derek Hall proposed the vote of thanks.

President Graham Smith welcomed nine other members. International convener Douglas Dow announced the cancellation of the book stall because of uncertainties over positioning and how many helpers could be present. Derek Hall confirmed arrangements for the club visit to the Scottish Maritime Museum at Irvine on Wednesday.

Jack Rudram marked the forthcoming centenary of the start of World War One with the story of his merchant seaman grandfather's service and medals in the Royal Navy Voluntary Reserve, serving effectively as a naval soldier for most of the war. Derek Hall proposed the vote of thanks, and the weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Adam Muggoch.
